Set in 25 acres of private forest, and with just 10 bungalows, it offers an intimate, stylish and comfortable space from which to explore the Gal Oya National Park and the landscapes and communities around it. It serves equally well as gorgeous setting to simply relax and be blissfully quiet, seemingly well away from the modern world.

The Gal Oya Lodge offers a unique wilderness experience with many different offers to explore the magnificent nature and the wild life in the area. Gal Oya Lodge has from its conception had a passion and concern for the wildlife of the remote part of Sri Lanka in which it sits. Gal Oya Lodge focuses on sustainability, which integrates the effort to minimize mans impact on the natural environment as well as a continous support of the local community and the pro-active engagement in wildlife research and nature protection initiatives.

LOCATION

20 minutes ride from the town Bibile in the mid north/east of Sri Lanka

TRANSFER

The hotel is ca. 387 km from Colombo, transfer from the airport in Colombo takes about 6 hours depending on the traffic.

ROOM

The Lodge is made up of 10 secluded bungalows and a 2-room villa. Each bungalow is a fusion of the traditional and the contemporary, blending natural materials such as illuk, cadjan and wood with modern touches of comfort and luxury.Every bungalow has a spacious bedroom including a king sized bed, with a sitting room opening onto a private veranda. The bathroom is fit for two, with his and hers sinks and indoor/outdoor showers - complete with solar-powered hot water.

The sitting can comfortably accommodate a second bed and the L-shaped sofa can make a third bed to suit for a family of two adults and two children. Local furnishings add touches of Sri Lankan style to the interior, providing a colourful and comfortable setting for an intimate retreat within the forest.

The signature Bungalow is the premium bedroom including a plunge pool.

The main Lodge has a bar and spacious restaurant, providing both Eastern and Western cuisine. All meals are carefully prepared using locally sourced fresh produce. Guests can also enjoy produce from Gal Oya Lodge’s very own organic kitchen-garden. The main Lodge overlooks a curved swimming pool providing the perfect place for a refreshingly cool dip in its clear waters or a leisurely recline on the surrounding cushioned sun loungers.
