AHUNGALLA

5 kilometers long is this beautiful beach in Ahungalla. From Hotel White Villa in the north to Hotel Shinagawa in the south.The beach is quiet compared to many other beaches. In the high season you can swim well in the sea. The beach is also relatively wide. This makes it very suitable for a nice walk or to play volleyball.

ARUGAM BAY

The surfers’ paradise. Arugam Bay is one of the ten best surfing beaches in the world. Behind the village lies the crocodile rock. The area is quite unique. It has a rich wilderness combined with a wonderful beach.

BENOTA RIVER

A boat trip in the wide Bentota-Ganga River is a wonderful nature experience. On this you beach you will find many four and five star hotels. It was here were the tourism in Sri Lanka started.

DALAWELLA BEACH

The beach is a secret insider tip on the south coast. The beach is suitable for snorkeling, surfing or simply to swim. The coral reef is laid out like a pool, so it is also suitable to swim or snorkel with children there or even on the off season, when the waters on other beaches are too rough to swim at all.

HIKKADUWA

Is a city about 23km from Galle. The beach is famous for its corals. It is a famous tourist place where you can surf and snorkel. Hikkaduwa has a small bay, where you can swim almost in any weather condition.

MIRISSA

A beach to relax. The sand is very fine and bright. Perfect for beautiful walks or for jogging. The sea is rather wild, as it is not protected by any reef, the waves come directly to the beach. Season is from November to April.

TALALLA BEACH

If you are looking for a nice quiet beach in the south, you should go to Talalla. The kilometer-long coastline is fabulous. Here you will find the absolute peace, far away from everything. Just enjoy a day at the beach. Highly recommended. Nature is still very pure here.

 

UNAWATUNA

The beach is on the southwest coast near the town of Galle. The beach is about 2km long, you can swim all year, as an offshore reef break the high waves. From mid-October to April it is possible to dive to see giant tortoises, fish or even a ship's crack. Unawatuna is a typical tourist place with many shops, cafes, restaurants and sunbeds. If you want to be alone, this is not the right place to go.
